A quick visit to the Wedge Surfboard factory…

A quick visit to the Wedge Surfboard factory in Umzumbe, by Craig Sinclair, with a load of surfboards in for repair, after the carnage left by the swell over the last spring tide.

Gary and Justin Maisch (and company) are busy with all sorts of projects in and around producing quality and deadly surfboards every day. Ding repairs can be requested and slotted into the hectic production schedule though.

The Sanctuary of love…!

The Sanctuary of Love…

…in Banana Beach on the KZN lower south coast, hosted a spectacular afternoon of live rock and folk music, stalls, markets and entertainment.

The Hinds Brothers and the Hairy Legged Lentil Eaters headlined while Dave Marx neatly filled in the remaining bars.

Deep barrel by Fred!

Deep barrel by Fred!

image

The evergreen Greg Wigmore (Fred) caught deep in the barrel on the KZN South Coast. This shot, taken by pro photographer and producer, Craig Sinclair aka Baconovich, was shot in amongst shoals of fleeing bait fish as they were being hammered by predators.
It is a dodgy time of year to be chasing shots like this, but it paid for big time for Fred and Baconovich.

It’s been absolutely cooking at all the usual spots. Saints. Uvongo. Southbroom. Ramsgate. Port Edward. Glenmore. The fact is, that when one spot fires, they all do.

Check out Shonalanga Adventures for safe and reasonably priced options for surfing the KZN South Coast.

The “Sard’s” proper south coast barrel

The “Sard’s” proper south coast barrel

It takes many, many barrel rides, to finally get one this good, on video.
Sard, well done, fantastic ride…and see you in the morning!

Other than Sard’s fantastic ride today at an undisclosed faraway location, practically every surf spot on the south coast fired today. And it looks to be that way for the next two weeks solid!

Productivity week!

Online again…

As of the Hibberdene ‘Couta Classic 2014 post, we can safely deduce that thesardine.co.za has been released from the ravages of DNS savagery. The errors have been tracked and the errant server has been punished. Hopefully readers and subscribers didn’t notice, but some of our posts were disappearing a day or two after being posted. So we would post more, and then the kidnapped posts were returned, only to be abducted again the next day. Unfortunately is was wreaking havoc with our search engine ratings.

At first we suspected one or two of the many dynamic PHP plugins and scripts used to make thesardine.co.za work. And so we began the debugging process. The net is chokka block full of reasons, suspects and workarounds for our disappearing posts problem…and so we dived in…removing, resetting, replacing…no result. The weeks ticked by until it became clear, after countless tests and experiments, that an errant server somewhere was grabbing our DNS numbers and diverting the traffic every now and then.

It’s chaos out there! So, if you experience similair problems with a WordPress or other CMS out there…good luck…just take it slowly, no radical measures off the bat, take notes at every turn, looking for references…and don’t rule out external errors. WordPress is a solid system used and supported worldwide. There are threads on almost every problem, clash or bug you can find, due to the huge user base. And we support WordPress extensively so give us a call if you have any WordPress queries, requirements or issues…+27 79 326 9671 or umzimkulu@gmail.com
