Great run of waves on KZN SC

Well it’s been a great run of waves down on the south coast, the past month or more. Swells up to 8ft and more have been battering our point breaks, making for some challenging surfing conditions and paddle outs. Standouts have been Justin Maisch, Dave De Filipi and the barrell of the season must go to Greg Wigmore, who, at out of control Umzumbe, stood up to a macker tube that was three times his height. The wave started off nice and tame but as it reared up against the insanely shallow sand, it just turned inside out and amplified itself double…leaving Greg hanging on for dear life as it engulfed him and then spat him out 100 metres down the line…salute!
