Last weeks KZN dive report today!

KZN dive report

Last weeks KZN dive report today!

And so we have last weeks KZN dive report today…Jason is always on time but somehow sometimes the article slips back a few days. It’s still relevant, but should have been included in Friday’s The Sardine News. Thank you Jason Heyne, once again.

The diving conditions this week have been below average. The sea is still clouded with muddy river water but certain areas are cleaning up one day and clouding the next so a bit of effort plus luck is required to find diveable water. Saturday morning a light offshore blows switching to a light southwest later in the day with negligible swell. Sunday a light offshore blows in the morning switching to a moderate southwest later in the day with the swell picking up from 1m to 1.5m late afternoon. Viz was reported both south and north today. Saturday looks best for a dive. Snoek and cuda have been caught this week both north and south. As always dive safe and straight spears.

KZN Spearfishing Report by Jason Heyne.

This informative and entertaining spearfishing report is really high on the WOW factor. Each week Jason and co-spearos compile a montage of really amazing spearfishing action photos. Thank you Jason!

“The diving conditions this week have been average with strong current and low viz in most areas. The conditions did improve dramatically today (Friday) with a moderate southwest blowing all day. Saturday morning a light northeast blows picking up speed during the day with the swell running at 1.2m. Sunday the northeast gets on it early morning picking up steadily during the day with the swell starting small and increasing in size through the day. So it looks like Saturday morning is the best bet for a dive. The snoek are on the north coast and rumour has it that one or two king mackerel have come out already. Brusher and grunter are thick in the shallows. As always dive safe and straight spears”

Jason is always on time with his Friday reports, but they just miss the 11am publishing each Friday of The Sardine News by email. So, once again, a slightly belated report and forecast from Jason…our man under the KZN water…

“The diving conditions this week have been surprisingly good after all the rain and storms on the weekend. The sea settled nicely on Wednesday and is still good today(Friday). Saturday a light north east blows during the day and the swell runs at 1.5m. Sunday a moderate south westerly blows with the swell running smaller at 1.3m. The wave period will pick up to 16 seconds so expect some big sets. Hard to say which day will be better for a dive but I’m leaning towards Saturday. Viz was reported north and south today. Daga salmon, Garrick and GT’s are still here with brusher putting in a good appearance both north and south. We will be having our annual shorediving species competition on the 15th of October and it’s going to be a great event. Check the poster for details. Hope to see all of you there. As always dive safe and straight spears.

Last weekend Spearfishing Report by Jason Heyne

Jason Heyne got his weekend spearfishing report in on time, but we are a few days late again, so here it is…thank you Jason.

The conditions this week were great to start with but detiorated during the week with some big swell today (friday) .
I have had no decent viz reports today. We have several low pressure systems sitting in the southern Atlantic and combimed with spring tides and a cyclone off Madagascar we have really bad weather on the way. This weekend looks a blowout for diving with big swell still hitting the north and south coasts tomorrow we have a late south west blowing from mid day right through to Sunday midday. Swell is gonna be on the larger side so caution is advised on entry and launch. Great weekend to catch up with the family. The vidal comp was a blast. Well done kobus delport on getting a 16 kg wahoo for 1st place. Thanks again to our generous sponsors Freedivers International and Rob Allen without you guys the comp wouldn’t be half of what it is. From Monday we will be experiencing large cyclone surf for a few days. Snoek garrick and daga salmon are around with the odd geelbek and grunter being landed. As always dive safe and straight spears.
