Breaking News as Gezani Bumps Mozambique: yip, after just getting the traffic going through Xai Xai again, here come Gezani to hash things up again. Thinking of our readers and watchers in Vilanculos as the storm heads south now.

quite a glum day of weather today for the okes
in villanculous that cyclone came from Madagascar
Gezani it’s called at full tilt
in fact when this recording is playing right now
you can see it’s 24 hours
it started in the middle of the Mozambique Channel
and it managed to crank out 400 km
to get all the way to Villanculos
in one night
24 hours I’m not sure what speed that is
but it is going anyway
now it’s hit vilanculos and now it’s going
there’s 60 knots there in the bad places
so it’s not
as fierce as the
cyclones we’ve had to deal with in the past
but there’s still enough to really damage boats
so I’m trying to get hold of Duarte and get a report
but there’s no reports
cause those guys will be running around like crazy now
trying to batten down roofs and windows
and anything they can
alright the second thing to check out
that you can notice on this thing
is how much lightning and thunder is uh
happening in the morning like now wait
wait for it

all over the place in the morning
it was this morning well actually not this morning
it’s just now just now
in fact like a couple of hours ago
hectic storms in the Nampula area
and now that cyclone is probably gonna unload
so much more rain back on Xai Xai with
they’ve just fixed the damn bridge
this is what happens
when you take all the trees out of your country
then the floods just come boy
and like there’s nothing there’s no buffer to to
to hold them up to hold the floods back
like Mozambique is a bit of a desert these days
those are just cut all that trees down
not so much the peoples the government well
I better not say that but it’s bad elements that
when I first went to Mozambique
the trees were just everywhere right next to the road
it’s like driving down in the middle of a forest
and then now ha ha ha ha
the trees are miles away on this side
don’t mess with Mother Nature alright
thinking of you guys up in Villanculos and Pomene
looks like it’s taking strain and Maxixe
and then hope you guys in Maputo are gonna be okay
cause looks like there’s still got a west wind there
and maybe it’s gonna push that cyclone out to sea
but yeah
it’s making landfall and let’s hope it cuts out
