Dorado run continues on the KZN South Coast

Dorado run continues on the KZN South Coast

It’s been a slow but consistent season fishing for dorado down on the south coast of KZN. Not much rain again causes concern – there was hardly much brown water – it comes and goes with the tides. Some theories attest that the rain sweeps nutrients from the land and into the ocean where it’s needed by all the tiny sea creatures, as nutrients.

But it’s mainly been the adverse weather caused by the cyclone sweeping air straight at us, that has made for the slow season. Just getting out there is a challenge! Interestingly, Tofinho Point in Inhambane, Souther Mozambique, has been breaking every day with absolutely beautiful conditions. That stretch of coastline is blessed as the tail of the cyclones whips the air offshore and all the while a strong easterly swell. Heaven!

But for now, it’s hoping and praying for rain from the south…come on south westerlies!

Loggerhead Turtle

[twitchermap]

Submitted by: Sean Lange

Report:

Last night on a sunset cruise from the Umzimkulu Marina, the crew and guests were treated to three sightings of presumed Loggerhead Turtles, swimming around the Umzimkulu. It is quite regular, this time of the year and in the brown water, that turtles are encountered in the river and in the mouth area. Wonder what they are up to!
