? Sardine News Morning Update: Shoals on the Move!
What a morning it’s been along the South Coast — the HOTLINE has been buzzing nonstop! Things kicked off early at Orcas Beach (Anerley), where the first shoals were spotted streaming past in the dawn light. From there, the silver tide rolled up to Banana Beach, where we’re reporting live right now. Even as we watched, another shoal appeared in the corner, heading steadily toward Pumula.
Then came the call from Jace — sardines being netted at Hibberdene! That’s the hotspot today, but these shoals are moving at incredible speed. If they keep it up, they could reach Scottburgh before sunset. And if history is anything to go by, Scottburgh is a favorite stop for the sardines, so locals should keep their eyes on the surf.
The action is intense, though the shad are playing coy this morning. Yesterday saw plenty of shad catches, but today the focus is firmly on the sardines. Netting crews are on standby, ready for that electrifying shout: “Sardines!”
