Squidgitz: This bait is magical, and the results speak for themselves.
Ian Logie has been fishing and guiding here on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast for decades. And over these years, Ian has been developing his secret bait sauce. That goes into the Squidgitz jar, and what all the fuss is about. You can watch this video right here for a solid frame of reference.
Using Squidgitz
This stuff is super easy to fish with. It goes on lekka using the cartilage at the front end of the intestine. Then, wrap a few more Squidgitz onto the hook and slightly up the line. You got to load up! As you will have clearly seen in the video above, more is more in every fishing case. Use a lot of cotton to keep that blob bait as streamlined as possible. And tough. The construction of a blob bait is clearly demonstrated several times throughout the video. It is basically 4 or 5 Squidgitz tightly held together and on the hook setup with lotsa cotton and an exposed hook.
Defrost the jar of Squidgitz by removing it from the freezer and placing it in the fridge the night before you go fishing. Never put water into the jar to defrost the Squidgitz, as you will dilute or even remove the secret sauce that way. If you forget to defrost, you can simply chuck the closed jar into a rock pool and wait a while.
When the Squidgitz are running low, you can create mixed grill baits from anything you can find. Break some mussels open, put that stuff on first, then wrap a squidgitz around that and faga cotton.
