Polvo for bait….

Yes it’s Jimmy again. That’s him in the background. As we arrived, Jimmy hailed the services of this young spearfisherman – to haul out this Octopus, ‘Polvo’ in Portuguese. Jimmy had spotted it in the rocks whilst fishing for bonefish in the rough surf zone. Jimmy is Tofinho’s fishing guru and says Polvo is the best bonefish bait.

Aaron Passchier and the GT off Tofinho Point

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Aaron Passchier is certainly makinh a name for himself here in Tofo. Bringing catches home daily after work…braving the odd shark and now this over 25kg GT. Kingfish like this love the colder winter water, often coming right into the shallows and bays.

Aaron shot this in 22m of water. Nice fish pal!

Karl Gouws on the attack!

Not to be outdone or miss out on the south coast action going on this awesome time of year, Karl sports a nice couta. Port Shepstone and the Kwazulu Natal South Coast area is on the boil right now, many nice fish up and down the coast.

Surviving the heat: Barra to Linga Linga and back…

Co-ordinating the large crowd to our Barra mooring… Johnny English did a sterling job and had us under steam to Linga Linga at 11am.

The mid day sun tried to roast us on the hour long sail to Linga…but shade and excellent grilled chicken was waiting. Trolling lures never produced anything but we were treated to the amazing sight of a stingray flying through the air 3m high. Twice!
Great trip on the all new party boat -‘ Babalaza’. Powered by a twin cylinder Lister diesel, she rides soft and stable…with a draft of a few inches only!
Call us on +258 840 666 471 if you have a special occasion you’d like to make extra special. We can collect anywhere in the Inhambane bay…and can load entire kitchens with fridges if necessary.
Otherwise. The food at Linga Linga is great and the beer cold…a fantastic lunchtime break from the heat and action…

Umtentweni Crocodile ‘Couta

Sharene van Vuuren on her way home from placing 8th in the Rock n Surf Nationals down in the Cape…stopped off at Port Shepstone and went fishing on the Niteshift. At her old stomping grounds Umtentweni she caught this mean crocodile sized couta.
