Baby Cape Fur Seal Sighting in Port Edward featuring the 2024 Sardine News Sightings Map: We are going to continue the Sardine News Sightings Map, with any and all other marine animal visits, or oceanic events that we can log. And who actually knows…according to previous years we could still be in for a sardine surprise.

In the meantime…meet our latest guest on The Sardine News…

If any of you out there happen upon anything like this little lost baby seal, or anything else stranded and in need of assistance, let us know and we can further the information onto the relevant parties.

Marine Life Rescue is a WhatsApp Group based on the lower KZN South Coast and is firmly dedicated to the rescue and conservation of our local and visiting marine life.

The Umtamvuna Marine Conservancy set up a vigil for the young visiting seal star with the Leisure Bay Conservancy, CROW and concerned residents. They guarded the seal for six hours.

After a good old rest…the little guy beat the shore break and was soon out in the open ocean again. Heading back to the cold Cape where he came from hopefully.

Sardine n Sighting Maps

It has been a fantastic sardine run this memorable 2024. And all the action has been logged right here on The Sardine News. This year’s map has been viewed 180,000 times and keeps growing.

Which led us to decide to keep the map live. And keep adding unique marine animal sightings and events. That occurs non-stop all year round. This year we started to log more whale and dolphin sightings. And we even had a shipwreck! And a freaking tornado!

These events will from now on be included in the Sardine News Sightings Map for 2024. And on the 1 January 2025, we shall start all over again.

Here are the links to existing and past Sardine Sighting Maps. Great for chilly day like today to research. With instructions to install The Sardine News right on your phone or desktop.
