Bringing the luck!

Colin Thornton bought his lovely girlfriend Kate, on holiday to Barra…and boy was she luck on the boat. Her presence was all it took for Colin to climb into the fish.

Fishing the Linga Linga channel is so much fun, especially when the Snoek are practically jumping in the boat.
With completely flat waters in that perfect Snoek Green tint, a variety of gamefish frequent this 25m deep channel, scarred with sandbanks and islands. The tides move in and out like some sort of rush hour, and these gamefish slam the poor baitfish and other juveniles without any mercy. Sometimes acres of fish rise at once. Little white dropshots (with wire) are compulsory, and light, light tackle. This area is one place you could catch a Natal Snoek or even a bonito, from the side, with light spinning gear. A good cast is all you need to be right in the mix.

All smiles for Charlie...

Bazza!

Keith, Dave and Bazza entertained us immensely over a weekend full of fishing and fish. Davey caught his first couta, and then proceeded to catch a bunch more. Bazza was on the yellowfin trail…

Justin time!

Justin James Collum and his first couta!
Justin James Collum and his first couta!

Young Justin James Collum was super amped yesterday as he boated his first couta and biggest fish off Barra Lighthouse. He fought the fish like a Pro, never letting slack line, and when the gaff finally went in, he couldn’t believe his eyes!
Luckily we are at sea again…Justin at 8 years old is super keen and convinced Uncle Keith Cooke to go again?!?!

News Update: Well we had an amazing second day with Justin, he caught 3 yellowfin tuna – and even put one of them back! The yellowfin were wild in the afternoon, we could have loaded 30 if we stayed fishing.

The Roystons

A Royston tagged black marlin!
A Royston tagged black marlin!

Brother,

Fishing continues to be exceptional and four days ago finished a 7 day charter with father & Son, Dave and Duncan Royston.
It was going to be hard to beat their trip last year when they caught 5 Marlin in 7 days including two over 850 lbs.

Anyway to cut a long story short it was EPIC to say the least
….besides all the wahoo, dorado countless yellowfin etc etc in these last 7 days we raised 20 Marlin which materialized in 15 strikes, 10 hookup’s and 7 Black Marlin releases.
