Winter spearfishing KZN is hot as hell

Winter spearfishing hot as hell in KZN

Winter spearfishing is hot as hell

Jason Heyne on the boil after his sailfish shot last week on Aliwal Shoal, reports in with more intel from what goes on under the water. Evidently it’s wahoo, big couta, sailfish and garrick – true winter gamefish here, that are causing all the commotion.

Well the diving conditions this week have been well below average unless you could get on a boat and I dive deeper spots like Aliwal shoal. Plenty wahoo around with the odd king mackerel and sailfish coming out. Saturday the swell drops to 1.8m with a North West offshore wind blowing in the morning switching to a moderate south West during the morning. Sunday the south West picks up speed with the swell running at over 2m. So there may be a small gap Saturday morning for a dive.  As always dive safe and straight spears.

Thank you Jason and keep up the good work!

If you want to do some spearfishing this winter, get in touch on umzimkulu@gmail.com and let’s put something together – Mozambique or South Africa – we got it covered.
