PSJ reports crazy sardines 3 July 2017
2017 Is certainly so far showing to be a far better sardine run than the 2016 fizzle. Offshore Africa, sardine run tour operators down in Port St. Johns, are out there every day, as they were last year, and are reporting loads of action.
This in from Debbie Smith of Offshore…
Seano. Insane action here. Rob got back from sea at 4.30pm. 5 baitballs. Brydes whale came swooping in and swallowed 1 of the balls. We have images on fb. Clients exhausted. Others thought there was nothing going on and it just fired in the afternoon between 2nd beach and Agate Terrace. Insane year better than it has been in years. Whoop whoop

Jay Steenkamp, intrepid international sardine spy…this very early morning…
Very good conditions today. Light offshore 3 to 4 ft surf. No activity this morning so far, except for small shoals of red-eyes at Port Edward and Rocky Bay.
So it’s perfect conditions for fishing and hunting for sardines. They could pop up anywhere today, or this week.
Stay tuned to a horizon near you!
