Liveaboard fishing charters in Vilankulos (per day/night)
Liveaboard fishing charters are the ultimate: Early awake in the dark. Sounds of the ocean all around. And. FISH!
Where are you for this magical moment? Anywhere you’d like to be within the Bazaruto Archipelago and surrounds on your mothership Catsanova.
Catsanova
44 Feet of cruising pleasure. Includes a 24ft sport fishing boat powered by twin 140hp four strokes. A purpose built gamefishing machine.
Captain Dean makes sure of your trip. Attention to detail. Years of experience. And a real fun dude. Who has spent his life learning the contours and waters of the archipelago and surrounds. I have fished with Dean. He knows each rock down there. And. I’ve seen him pull fish! And fish pull him! His big stick is stuck on GT drag and that is where it stays. Read that story here…
Live aboard means just that. And it’s catered (you can take a self-catering option too). The boat has a real fun kitchen, and barbecue. Sushi is served continually – it will be your staple diet as you come up against the denizens that hang out around here.
Trips on Catsanova, are completely customiseable. But the grand prize, including Reflection, and unlimited range, goes for a calm USD 1750 per day. Catered. Five to eight people can enjoy living the dream like this comfortably. And you could push it up to ten if you really want. Reflection, the sport fishing boat, is very comfortable with six plus a skipper. Other options including a smaller tender are right available, decreasing the charter fee.
Now. Here’s the thing…
Range
All over the Bazaruto Archipelago. And that is a huge piece of paradise. I will take you a good few days to explore the whole place. Santa Carolinha Island is most likely gonna be your best place to hang out. And is right in the middle of the whole show. The hangout of the likes of Bob Dylan and his ilk!
Nova Mambone up north is a paradise of a different sort. Unexplored heaven on earth in the form of a massive mangrove delta that begs for adventure. And out deep is the famed 24 mile and then 50-mile reefs. These spots break the surface at low tide. And it is here where you will really have to sharpen up as you pit your skills against the very best. Huge GTs. Dogtooth. And of course, sharks! Sign of a healthy environment? Well, this place is real healthy then.
Of course, most of the time we will be patrolling out much deeper for billfish. The hot season runs through September and into March. And when I say hot. I totally mean it. Seasoned pro Captain Duarte Rato (next door on Bazaruto Island) produces amazing statistics, oftentimes releasing double figures gamefish every trip. Duarte is passionate about big marlin and that’s basically all he wants to do. But when the ocean turns topsy-turvy, you can find Duarte pitting his guests against the monster GTs that hang inshore.
So, if this is the life you want to live, for a few days or a week…let me put together a quote for you. You can easily drive up here. Or. We have an (international) airport in Vilankulos and can have you fishing an hour after you land.
