A little bit of bottom fishing…

Well on a slow day drifting across the pinnacles in amongst the local row boat and ski fishermen, a bit of bottoming makes perfect sense.
The Castlemans of Barberton joined Ozzie Mike on this trip off Barra, and we took home enough for all of us to eat fish for dinner.
Birds have been birding like crazy over the last few days, but today we never saw one until after lunch!
The awesome live baits we got from the netters earlier produced some good strikes but broken traces and near misses plagued us. A sailfish greeted us as we got out there with a sideways dash of 100m right across the bow but our livies just couldn’t find him…
Really good conditions lately with blue blue water and minimal wind.

It sure takes character…

To beat the seasick blues…
But Belgian Cal braved it out and he and his countryman Johan each got a yellowfin to take home today.
Pieter van Staden of Jhb was with us and also took home a tuna to eat…
We saw couta and Dorado free swimming and for a while the sea was madness. Acres of fish!
Ralph Jones (jnr) down at Legogo also had a great day…I just spoke to him and he had released two sailfish…after wahoo, Dorado and yellowfin accounted for.
Great day out…

Off to work…

I am heading for an office and computers for today…Manuel here is also going to work…way out off Barra lighthouse in 20m of crystal clear water.
The market was full of amberjack and kingfish yesterday…all varieties…around the 10kg size.
The sea has gone a bit wintery and massive amounts of baitfish are being worked by birds really shallow out front of the Tofo beaches…
Launching tomorrow…
