Captain Duarte Rato off Bazaruto checking in…

Last week we mixed between Marlin fishing and plugging for Kingfish and had good results on both and even tough the biggest GT we released was just under 20 kilos we did get good numbers and had some awesome fun catching those and big eye kingfish on stick baits and plugs!!!

Here´s a few photos of Carl Jankowitz with a few released kingies!!!

Cheers mate,

Peixe das Pedra

These unfortunately tasty little twin spot snapper, soldiers and baby rock cod…can be bought for 70mets (R20) a kilo in the Tofo market. Here Jose Rungu displays his wares…

This type of catch is not typical…the fishermen here in Tofo generally target king mackeral/serra/couta rather than small bottomfish…but when the going is slow…and bellies need filling…

Couta!

image

Young Dercio and a brace of couta, king mackeral or serra…as they are known here in Mozambique. These two fish in the 10 to 12kg represent the average size these hard fighting fish are coming out this time of year. Yesterday Meader van Wijk had a successful charter with 2 yellowfin and a skipjack. He reported many baitballs and jumping tuna. The water has been warming and then cooling again…but it should start hitting the top twenties soon…
