More pics: big wave spectacle on the KZN Coast
“Colossal”, is the new buzzword down here on the KZN Lower South Coast, as the swell just keeps on coming. The carparks and viewing spots are busy with spectators. Surfers are nowhere. Fishermen too. All launch sites are closed for business.
The sardines have also been scared away by the onslaught, yesterday they were practically beaching at Margate, where seine netters hauled out the first 89 or so crates. The first caught in two seasons. Today there are none to be spotted anywhere, the birds and dolphins have also taken a hike. Where to?
Either way it’s great to have the sards back, glimpses of sardine fever can still be detected, leftover from yesterdays thrills.
These shots were taken from the Umtentweni Conservancy’s popular Whale Viewing Deck, just north of Port Shepstone.
