Cyclone Idai Update – The Rescuers
Well it’s been a long time since I was called a “”K#$^%r Boetie!
But that happened. Twice! Whilst rallying support, for our neighbours trapped in the destruction of Cyclone Idai! And it’s 2019!
Luckily it seems that these people, there were two of them, are such a minority percentage, compared to the thousands upon thousands who sympathised one way or the other.
The support from the real people of Southern Africa has been top notch. From the militaries to the rescue teams and organisations, to the volunteer groups, to the individuals. Foreign assistance is pouring in too.
Here is this morning’s example…
Rangers from the Bazaruto NP in collaboration with Raphael from Big Blue are heading up to Bizu river to joint the Save and Rescue team. The expedition includes two boats, three cars, plus food and water. We will update you about what the team finds
Then there are some real big hitters joining in too…this plane belongs to a private individual – it’s service donated to the cause for while needed. This guy donated the fuel for his plane too!
This from the Vilankulos Community Spirit Group…a few hours ago.
Hello Community ?Feedback from Givers…. Grant and team doing incredible. All farmers joined us with boats. Saved 2000 people so far.
There are organisations and individuals of all sorts helping. These are the Peace Parks guys…from Zivane down the road.
The list is extensive now but the following need special mentioning as they are currently active in the project one way or the other.
Triton Express – collection points and truck transport to the affected areas
Gift of the Givers – please send these guys money now: (Gift of the Givers, Standard Bank, Account No. 052278611, Branch Code 057525, ref: Floods)
Wings like Eagles – a charity aviation association with it’s own planes and choppers ( you can donate at http://wingslikeeagles.net)
Just in!
This just came in fresh from the Vilankulos Community Spirit Group…
Imtiaz the latest from our teams on the ground are there are about 5000 to 6000 people that are stranded that side, the team indicated they need food, shelter and Blankets for now .
Tents and basics for 6000 people is a very tall order, and shows just how massive every challenge is.
And last but certainly not least, and on a slightly higher note…OnDaWay, a rock band from Tofo, had this to offer last night, in Tofo!
There are collection points all over Mozambique, and the Triton Express depots in South Africa. Bank details of credible organisations above.
This is going to go on for a long time.
