Beach Reports for KZN by The Sardine News 8 September 2024: what a lekka weekend for a change as we escape the prevalent winds characteristic of this time of year.
We are kicking off the beach reports today with Adam Kamdar right on the spot in Durban. Adam’s report is a great way to start the day and is published before 8 or 9 a.m. most times. Sometimes, even at 7 a.m., we are done!
Over to Adam…
And then a quick adjustment to the programming schedule…
“I’m a man who could easily let the day get out of control” – Blind Melon
Well, I got the schedule wrong slightly, The Bear actually checked in first today, all the way down from Umkomaas…at 7am! Please check out The Master Watermen website and YouTube Channel, links are also down below.
Where he reports reasonable to adverse diving conditions. And a buster on the way…
Well at least the wind ain’t howling and by later this afternoon I am sure some decent catches will have been made. If, so they will be reported right here on this daily beach reports page for the 8 September 2024.
This common sighting is slightly special since it marks the continuation of our 2024 Sardine Sightings Map. We are going to continue to run the map with whatever interesting ocean animal or event sightings that we receive. Like these two Humpback Whales dancing the day away off Umkomaas area.
As shot by The Bear on his cellphone. Here at The Sardine News we have always favoured authenticity over being too fussy with image quality and the like. We just need the news and as long as you can see and verify what is going on…that’s fine for us!

Having intel to make the right decisions can save you hours and hours of frivolous sardine hunting. We have taken great care to log the activity of each sardine run since 2021. These records are available for anyone to look at.
If you study the maps year to year, you will see that right now we are only just in the middle of good sardine conditions. And that in previous years catches were made right into the summer months.
