Another stiff South Wester rips through KZN today 12 August 2024 by Adam Kamdar of Township Hyper: Finally, the east winds have been beaten back and the low-pressure systems are now dominating. Hoping that these conditions will prevail as we squeeze the last bit of juice out of winter that we can.

Warm Water

KZN water refuses to cool down. Will not drop below 20 degrees Celsius, and has consistently stayed over 22 degrees Celsius for week after week. And now this cold front will calm the ocean and currents even more and the water may even get warmer.

Fishing

The garrick and kob are gonna be around for a while still. The shad might come back if the water cools. And there has been a good showing of Natal Snoek this year.

Spearfishing

Surfing

After all that waiting in earnest for the high-pressure conditions to be overridden by these low systems, we can expect waves to surf at some places in KZN over the next few days.
