13 June 2023 Sardine Report
13 June 2023 Sardine Report: another beautiful day revealing itself. But, where are the sardines? The water temperature is a warm 22 degrees Celsius here on the SKZN coast. A tad warm. But the ocean is glassy and you will be able to spot sardines and other marine animals miles away.
Yesterday
Was an action-packed sardine Monday, the first nets were deployed very early just north of Port Shepstone. Then Scottburgh saw a few shoals in the surf zone. Three nets were set and about 5 crates came in. The last nets of the day went in at Rocky Bay who did a lot better.
Today
6 am – recces have gone out and we await news…big swells coming up from the south.
7 am – Sardines, sharks and birds in the waves at Doonside. And many sardines in the Scottburgh north area.
8 am – huge net thrown and retrieved at Warner Beach by Tony Moon and his able crew. Get down there now if you want to buy some very fresh sardines.
10 am – huge shoal passing East London…
AND the morning news in video…
10:20 am a net just went in at Amanzimtoti. There are LOT of sardines in the waves and this looks to be another big haul.
