Life of Prawn
Life of Prawn: Well, the title gives the game right away but I am sure you are gonna enjoy wondering and pondering about the Life of a Tiger Prawn as I did. I have previously published videos on the prawns we get here in KZN. The Umzimkulu and the Transkei in particular.
Although I have not had much joy in the Transkei hunting prawns with my cameras, the Umzimkulu guys have been more than accommodating. The tigers were plentiful this weekend at the jetty. And when I threw my first net and bagged a handful of monsters, I took notice this time, that they were caked in mud. These buggers were hiding in the substrate. But the net was too much for them and they got caught trying to escape.
The prawn dude in this video, however, looks clean as a whistle. What the heck she (this was a big prawn and the females are generally larger) was doing down there is anyone’s guess. To me she was merely taking in the scene as I was with my camera. That clean water is amazing to film and observe in, I am sure we gonna have more prawn footage by the time the real rains come.
