11h30 18 July 2024 Sardine Update from Winkelspruit: roving reporter Adam is heading back up to Durban from some time out on the KZN South Coast. And has stopped to update us on the sardines and the conditions relevant to them.
Over to Adam…
The wind blowing so breezily today is from the east and is known to chill the water. As opposed to the south wind which warms it up so lekka. It’s a weird quandary to be in. We love the warm water but the sardines love it icy!?
With so many more shoals being spotted way down south and still on their way, and the fact that it is still only July, means we can still expect sardines to pop up anytime.
