Watch “If in doubt, don’t go out…The Umzimkulu River mouth at it’s worst.”
Some days the Umzimkulu river mouth launch can be literally, impossible.
Easterly swells are normally the main contributing factor, and with an outgoing tide, the mouth area becomes a maelstrom.
On days like this, the age old age – “If in doubt, don’t go out”, comes into play. And on this day, after a few waves right over the Niteshift, we had to return back, to the safety of the river.
Thanks Dad, for not taking us through there this time!
