Shad fishing Anerley...
Well, this is another no sardine run report 2016, as very little news is available, for to keep our dwindling hopes up. What shoals there were featuring 3 weeks or so back, have all but disappeared. Even the red-eyes and mackerel have gone somewhere else?!
But there is some great news.
The shad are boiling in places!
Just jump in your car, head north or south a while, and soon you will find a bay or a beach teeming with shad and shad fishermen and shad fisherwomen and shad fishing dogs and shad fishing spectators. It’s quite a scene!
Ezimvelo have their hands full as miles and miles of coastline are being patrolled in this way.
The biggest shad are not very big yet, mostly live bait size really – but as the weeks roll on, so the big blues should start arriving.
As usual, its the Transkei that is having the most fun. Sardine Correspondent Robbie van Wijk down in Mdumbi (heaven), is eagerly on watch for sardine action, and is also reporting shad shoaling action. With kob and Garrick?!
Debbie Smith and Rob Nettleton of Offshore Africa down in Port St. Johns are at sea again, after the bad weather has finally passed. They will report in with us later today.
Stay on this channel for breaking sardine news action.
