Renske Massing and Candace van Tonder are encouraged by Carl Coates on the girls final day of studying to be qualified surf instructors.
Tasha Mentasti put the girls through the course which is run by Surfing South Africa. Check their site surfingsouthafrica.co.za for all the cool stuff involved. You need to first get a first aid certificate before you can enroll. And you gotta have 20 hours of lessons under your belt to get the badge.
After the course Renske proclaimed, “It was the most fun thing I’ve studied and deep down I think it was a life changing thing for me.”
Renske will be starting her surf school at her home break Wijk aan see in Holland.
Candace is well settled on the south coast where she will be coaching beginners and advanced. Candace is a mean competitor and any kid will really benefit from time spent training with her.
