Spearfishing by Jason Heyne

The conditions this week have been well bellow average. The good news is that the sea settled nicely today (Friday) with a moderate southwest blowing and minimal swell. Saturday a light southwest blows in the morning switching to a light onshore in the afternoon with a small 1m swell running. Sunday a northeast blows picking up speed during the day with minimal swell in the morning. Saturday is good as long as you can find viz. Deep is probably the best option. Some decent cape yellowtail are on the south coast and now is also the time to start looking for cuda on the north coast. We will be having our AGM dinner on the 3rd of December and it will be a party of note again. Club subs are due guys!
> I have put up some old pics of wahoo and cuda. I’ve seen no pics of fish this week but we all need some fish porn!

Spearfishing weekly by Jason Heyne

The sea conditions have been average this week with good viz being hard to find. Hectic north south current has made the diving hard but current brings game fish. The sea today (Friday) was perfect with a light south west blowing and small swell in most places. Saturday a light west blows throughout the day with the swell running at 1.3m. Sunday morning the south west picks up and so does the swell to 1.8m later in the day. So Saturday is the best day for a dive. The return Garrick run has really come on and some good fish should be shot in tomorrows DUC Garrick comp. The weigh in is at 4pm at DUC if you would like to come have a look. Good luck to all competitor’s. Brusher are ever present in the shallows and wahoo are out deeper. As always dive safe and straight spears.

Spearfishing Natal waters weekly

Spearfishing Natal waters weekly

Conditions this week have been better than the last two weeks by far. The big swell dropped off Monday and the sea settled nicely. The bad news is the north east picked up today (Friday) and a fresh North east is blowing as I write this. Saturday a moderate north east blows till late afternoon with the swell starting at 1.8m and dropping off during the day with a moderate south westerly starting up in the late afternoon. Sunday the south westerly pics up during the day and so does the swell from 1.5m in the morning to 2m late afternoon. The diving outlook for this weekend is not good and its spring low in the mornings. Sunday morning there might be a gap. Due to the conditions this weekend our species comp has been postponed. Some great fish were shot this week so a hero mission might be worth it. As always dive safe and straight spears

Spearfishing in Kwazulu Natal report

Spearfishing in Kwazulu Natal report

This weeks Spearfishing in Kwazulu Natal report in from Jason Heyne, our man underwater and in focus…

Conditions this week have been well bellow average with huge storm surf pounding the coastline. The good news is the swell dropped today (Friday). Saturday a fresh North east blows from early picking the swell up to 2m later in the day. Sunday a fresh South west blows from around midmorning picking the swell up from 1.5m to 2m . There was viz reported south and off Durban today. Daga salmon and brusher are here in numbers and the reefs should be nice and unsanded after the big surf all week. Saturday early or Sunday early will be the best bet for a dive. I’m leaning towards Sunday. As always dive safe and straight spears.

Weekly Spearfishing Report

Weekly Spearfishing Report

The diving conditions have been below average this week. A south west blew today (Friday) and the swell was up today. The wind should clean it up a bit. Saturday a light direct east blows with the swell running at 1.7m and getting smaller during the day. Sunday morning a fresh south west blows picking up the swell to 2m during the day. So it looks like Saturday is the day. There was viz reported south today. Brusher, Garrick, geelbek, daga salmon and some fair size natal stumpnose are in the shallows. As always dive safe and straight spears.
