Report weekly KZN Spearfishing

Report weekly KZN Spearfishing

Report weekly KZN Spearfishing

Thank you Jason Heyne…

The diving conditions this week were good up until Thursday when the northeast absolutely caned it. There are plenty queen mackerel around and king mackerel are putting in an appearance. Saturday a light offshore blows in the morning switching to a light northeast later in The day with the swell running at 2m throughout the day. Sunday a fresh southwest blows from early on and the swell builds to 2.5m. Viz was reported north today. So it looks like Saturday is a go but some swell is to be expected. Our annual crayfish compo is on for the 23 of March and as usual it will be a cracker event. I’ve put the details in the pics below. As always dive safe and straight spears

SA Spearfishing record for marlin

SA Spearfishing record for marlin smashed

Although details are scant and the catch is still to be accepted by the record keepers, Jason Heyne brings us news of the all new SA Spearfishing record for marlin. And it looks like a shore dive at this stage!

Over to Jason…

“The diving conditions this week have been well above average. Decent fish are coming out on the north coast and it looks like Guy Le Meme broke the South African spearfishing record for black marlin. Well done Guy! Saturday the northeast picks up speed during the day with the swell starting small at 1.2m and building during the day. Sunday morning the northeast drops off and a fresh southwest comes through later in the day with the swell running at 1.8m. So it looks like Saturday morning is good for a dive. Good viz was reported north and south today. As always dive safe and straight spears”

Thank you Jason!

Well it looks like the Couta have arrived and there seem to be quite a few about. Enjoy this weeks really chokka-blok gallery of fish shot this week up and down the KZN Coast.

Weekly Spearfishing by Jason Heyne

The conditions this week have been average with one or two really good days. The snoek have arrived in numbers. The northeast pumped today(Friday) and the swell jacked to two meters. Saturday a moderate south westerly blows with the swell running at 1.8m. Sunday a light variable wind blows all day with the swell running at 1.7m. Snoek are running shallow and some cuda are out deeper with dorado and small wahoo about. So it looks like Sunday could be good for a dive. We had our first meeting of the year and there was an awesome turnout of guys at the braai. As always dive safe and straight spears.

Thank you Jason for keeping us in the loop…as to what goes on underwater, up and down, the KZN East Coast.

Weekly Spearfishing report KZN

Weekly Spearfishing report KZN

Jason Heyne back on the program with his weekly spearfishing report KZN style…

The conditions this week have been great but game fish have been scarce. A few king and queen mackerel did come out though. A light southwest is blowing now(Friday afternoon) and the swell is negligible. Saturday morning a light offshore blows switching around to a light south east in the afternoon with a small 1m swell running. Sunday a northeast blows from early and picking up during the day with a 1.2m swell running. So it looks like Saturday is go diving day but I have my reservations due to the poison south east later in the day. Snoek and cuda seem to be holding on the 16 to 18m line. As always dive safe and straight spears

This informative and entertaining spearfishing report is really high on the WOW factor. Each week Jason and co-spearos compile a montage of really amazing spearfishing action photos. Thank you Jason!

“The diving conditions this week have been average with strong current and low viz in most areas. The conditions did improve dramatically today (Friday) with a moderate southwest blowing all day. Saturday morning a light northeast blows picking up speed during the day with the swell running at 1.2m. Sunday the northeast gets on it early morning picking up steadily during the day with the swell starting small and increasing in size through the day. So it looks like Saturday morning is the best bet for a dive. The snoek are on the north coast and rumour has it that one or two king mackerel have come out already. Brusher and grunter are thick in the shallows. As always dive safe and straight spears”
