Report Spearfishing KZN

Γ–ver to Jason Heyne for his highly rated spearfishing report, from underwater up and down the KZN Coast…

The diving conditions this week have been above average with some good fish coming out. Garrick have arrived early and some big ones too. Shoal king mackerel are around in numbers with some really large crocs in-between. Saturday a light offshore blows switching to a light onshore later in the day and swell is negligible. Sunday morning a moderate south West starts blowing with the swell running at 1.4m. Saturday is looking top for a dive. Well done Markus Potgieter on getting the fish of the week a 40kg plus sailfish. Jarryd van Reenen comes a close second with a garrick of a lifetime 25.6kg! As always dive safe and straight spears

Spearfishing Report KZN

Spearfishing Report KZN

The diving conditions this week have been well below average. Big swell and strong south westerly for the last seven days has killed the viz. Saturday the swell drops to 1.7m with a l?ght offshore in the morning and light onshore wind later in the day. Sunday the swell drops to 1.4m with l?ght variable wind during the day. So it looks like Sunday is the better day for a dive. Wahoo and cobia are around in decent numbers. As always dive safe and straight spears.

Spearfishing KZN Weekly report by Jason Heyne

Over to Jason Heyne, with his ever on time Spearfishing KZN Weekly report by Jason Heyne

The diving conditions have been average this week with there being diveable water up and down the coast. Finding the fish has been hit and miss with it either being on or zero action. Big cobia have arrived and queen and king mackerel are still around although not in numbers. Saturday morning the southwest continues to blow and the swell jacks to 2.5m. Sunday the swell drops marginally and the southwest moderates. So it looks to be a family weekend. Well done Bryce Buis on getting the fish of the week a 29.2kg cobia! Happy Easter ? spearos. As always dive safe and straight spears.

KZN South Africa spearfishing news weekly

KZN South Africa spearfishing news weekly

Diving conditions have been below average this week with Monday and Tuesday being the best days. Solid northeast Wednesday and Thursday killed the viz. Saturday a moderate southwest continues blowing in the morning dropping off later in the day with the swell running large at 2m. Sunday the swell drops to a manageable 1.5m with a light offshore blowing in the morning switching to a light to moderate northeast in the afternoon. So it looks like Sunday is a go for a dive. There are plenty queen mackerel around and king mackerel deeper line. Due to big surf predicted Saturday we have moved our crayfish comp to Sunday the 26th of March when conditions will be better. The weigh in venue has been changed to Freedivers Shop Renaldo Road Glennanil. Weigh in starts at 14h00 and ends at 15h00. Good luck to all competitors! As always dive safe and straight spears.

Thank you Jason Heyne for being so reliable with this ever entertaining and informative spearfishing report.
