Sardine News From East London Today: The GoDive team is launching daily down in East London (Cintsa) and reporting to us as the 2025 sardine run unfolds.
And it is unfolding!
Elton reports huge numbers of Cape Gannets. And dolphin. They reported from the boat out at sea nice and early this morning, as they were about to get in. Gannets are the key to knowing that it’s sardines that these lethal birds of prey are after. And the sheer numbers of dolphin clearly mean something is happening under the waves.
Sunrise with Alan
And we have another golden voice clocking in with us…
Between Alan and The Bear, DJs watch out!
And then Ian at The Sheppy River Mouth
Thank you Ian!

Message from Sir David Attenborough: At 99 years young, we need to be listening to this fella…
David’s brother Richard also has a special place in my heart but for another reason completely…
“Capital Radio 604, the trailblazing South African station that broadcast from 1979 to 1996, shared a unique connection with London’s Capital Radio through Richard Attenborough. As revealed in the documentary Music Power: The Story of Capital Radio 604, Richard, the first broadcaster and lifetime president of London’s Capital Radio (originally Capital 194), granted permission for Capital Radio 604 to use their iconic graphics and jingles. These were re-sung and adapted to suit the South African station’s identity, enabling it to craft a vibrant, professional sound that resonated with listeners. This collaboration helped Capital Radio 604 deliver uncensored news and banned music during apartheid, leveraging the established branding of its London counterpart to become a cultural force in South Africa.”

GoDive Reports Hundreds Of Gannet At Cintsa: Elton and crew checking in at lunchtime…
“dolphins swimming around excited clients hey guys just a update from the um go dive crew operating out of Sinza obviously we had those two tough weeks in um Port Elizabeth where although we saw a little bit of action it just wasn’t what we were hoping for uh moving on to Cintsa um the first day was pretty good we launched on the 4th and we did get a couple of um you know small little bait balls which were kind of dissipating as we arrived and then the next couple of days were really quiet um I think uh we had a spotter plane go up for us they saw four gannets the whole flight between East London and kind of Wavecrest area uh no dolphins no whales and nothing really really really look like a desert out there um and that was two days ago today luckily it looks like it’s turning a little bit uh the team just reported back um hundreds of gannets in the area uh and a lot of uh dolphins as well so as they sent me the last update they were approaching the first signs of a proper bait ball and they were gonna get in so yeah we will uh definitely report back to tonight or tomorrow um whether it’s a what the visibility water temperature and what if it was in fact sardines and not maybe mackerel or some sort of other bait fish but yeah looks like a sardine run 2025 is a coming into swing now so we were very excited I still got about five weeks of this so yeah really really um excited for what’s to come”
The gannet birds that have flown up here from the Cape are a sure sign that sardines are in the area…

8 May 2025 Durban Conditions Sunrise Timelapse: Another Perfect Day…
Adam Kamdar of Township Hyper in Durban has been creating pieces of art recently. With his camera! If you have been watching The Sardine News show on YouTube, you will know and appreciate what I am talking about…
The timelapses!
Not only are these magnificent efforts portraying Durban for what it is – a paradise of some sort – but they also reveal far more than we ever thought. About the ocean and atmospheric conditions at that moment. The sped-up footage betrays all that the normal pace eye can not see at all.
A big thank you to Adam. You can show your appreciation by popping over to his Township Hyper Facebook page. This is also where Adam runs the promotional side of things at the huge shop and keeps his shoppers up-to-date with relevant goings-on in and around Durban.
Click on over to TownShip Hyper on Facebook, right HERE!
And watch the report right here…
